Buying Trips!

It’s buying season, which means our Perfect Bridal Room’s management team have been travelling far and wide, making sure we get the best dresses and the latest trends for our beautiful brides.

At the end of April we flew out to Barcelona and saw first-hand the amazing new 2018 collections for both Pronovias and Jesus Peiro. A week later we were off to Birmingham to view the new Enzoani, Enzoani Blue and Badgley Mischka collections. After watching all of the catwalks we are in total awe of all the amazing gowns that will be coming to PBR very soon. Head over to our Facebook and Instagram pages to see a few sneak peek snaps! https://www.facebook.com/perfectbridalrooms/ and http://www.instagram.com/perfectbridalrooms/

Key Trends

Frills were a distinctive trend this season, with statement frills on shoulders and sleeves providing a bold modern look. Embellishment and 3D florals are still as popular as ever, providing a romantic, pretty and timeless look. The boho bride look has been updated with a combination of broderie anglaise and bold panelling along the bodice. Often counter balanced by a simple soft tulle skirt – perfect for that relaxed but fashion forward bride. Plunging necklines were everywhere, this sexy silhouette is set to be a firm favourite. Statement sleeves were seen across the board, whether it be sheer and billowing, beaded or ostrich feather trimmed cuffs. Slim crepe with lace cut outs, there were simply sleeves everywhere. Traditional brides fear not, as popular as the simple, fitted and sexy gowns are; 2018 is set to see a resurgence of the classic princess gown, with beautiful full ball gown skirts appearing on every runway.

MEET THE DESIGNER- SUZANNE NEVILLE, IN STORE JANUARY 28TH AND 29TH

It’s that time of year again, when Perfect Bridal Rooms pairs up with Suzanne Neville to make bridal dreams come true. In celebration of her stunning 25th anniversary collection and our partnership of over 20 years we thought it only right to give you a small exclusive with the lady herself in the build up to this year’s designer weekend.

I love how in the 2017 portrait collection all the gowns are named after great artists. Which artists of the fashion world and beyond continue to inspire you?

I love everything fashion!! From the very unusual to elegantly classic. The old time Dior to the endlessly feminine softness of current Valentino. I like quality workmanship and history of a good designer.

You have been coming up to do designer days at Perfect Bridal Rooms for many years now. How do you like Scotland, have you ever had the time to explore and be a tourist?

It’s got to be over 20 years!! Where has the time gone! I’ve had many many wonderful designer weekends up in Aberdeen and seen so many brides. It’s always a great weekend and as I know Alison so well now, it’s like spending the weekend with friends.  When you enjoy what you do, it’s never like a days work.

You must have seen so much change and evolution in the bridal fashion industry over the years. What for you have been the most exciting changes and innovations?

Having been in the industry for 25 years now, it has changed so much. First of all the style of wedding dresses – they used to be more historic and flamboyant. Dresses are far more on par with main fashion now. In the last 7 years, with all the social media and internet, there’s so much for brides to see now. The inspiration that’s around to help choose a dress, find your designer and style your wedding is endless. Everything is much faster now and brides want much more variety and styles to choose from. I love Instagram and how instant it is!

Ralph Lauren said “I don’t design clothes. I design dreams” This must particularly ring true for you when you are compiling a collection?

Absolutely! I always say it’s my brides who inspire each collection. I love meeting brides every week, either on my designer days around the world, or in either of my own ateliers – Knightsbridge London and Wilmslow in Cheshire. I hear about their dreams, and dresses that are in their heads but maybe don’t exist, and create bespoke dresses based on my collection that makes the perfect dress for them. As I still design everything in the collection and do the first patterns, it is so important to me to fit on real bodies and continue to create the perfect silhouette for each bride.

From your personal experience would you have any top tips for brides to be on their big day?

Try not to get too hooked up on Pinterest. There’s some great imagery out there for ideas, but some can also be unrealistic and photoshopped, as with a lot of social media. Think about your figure, your height, and shape you always feel good in. Do some research on designers and only go to a handful of places that are known for their service too. A good consultant who sees brides every day will know what dresses will look good on you. Try lots on and work out which shape you like first and then the design and detail. Look at the fabrics and quality of the dress.

Select appointments are still available on the 28th and 29th of this month, please call us on 01224 574141 or email us at perfectbridalrms@aol.com to book your appointment now.
